Coffee and books – two of our favourite things. But maybe we can go one better – coffee + books + cocktails! Oh yes. Here’s another way to enjoy this month’s box…

Pioneering the use of organic, single-origin beans, Percol made the first ground coffee to be Fairtrade certified – and they invest in the farmers they work with too. We LOVE their coffee bags – rich, packed full of flavour and so easy if you fancy a GOOD coffee on the go. Prefer something stronger? It’s time to try out our failsafe espresso martini recipe! Most espresso martinis use vodka and Kahlua, but we prefer ours with a twist – made with the very finest tequila…

When we do cocktails, we like to make them pretty easy – not everyone has advanced mixology skills after all. With this one, you can vary the quantities – and make this as strong as you fancy!

  • Brew up your Percol Colombian coffee bag as per instructions. One coffee bag should make enough for a couple of cocktails – and we recommend sharing with a friend or lover…

  • Once the coffee has cooled a little, take 50ml of tequila (we prefer an aged one), 35ml of Cazcabel Coffee (or Cafe Patron) and 25ml of the delicious Percol Colombian, and SHAKE with ice! It will be just fine without a shaker, but the shaker will create that beautiful creamy finish, and make your cocktail extra CHILLED.

Variations? We LOVE this with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream on top – a kind of twist on the traditional Italian affogato. If you don’t have any coffee-flavoured tequila, you can use pretty much any coffee liqueur. Warning: you may feel a need to go out dancing if you make one of these… CHEERS! Need more coffee? (Always!) Check out Percol’s website.
