Acclaimed celebrity facialist Su-Man Hsu shares her essential tips for relaxation, me-time and making your beauty regime an indulgent ritual.
Beauty editors describe Su-Man’s facials as a ‘non-invasive alternative to Botox’ and celebrities rely on her treatments as their red carpet go-to. Since she launched her skincare brand back in 2013, celebrity facialist and former dancer Su-Man Hsu’s acclaimed collection of products has gone from strength to strength – you’d never know that the former dancer was actually born to illiterate farmers in Taiwan. We LOVE a real-life Cinderella story! Su-Man Skincare is all about powerful natural ingredients, “marrying the best of Eastern and Western skincare philosophies”. So Su-Man’s someone who knows a fair amount about me-time, switching off and making your beauty routine a self-care ritual…
What does me-time mean to you?
Me time is doing things where I’m not responsible or concerned with the outcome or result. It’s when I feel like I’m playing in a creative way like messing around with formula ideas in my kitchen, experimenting with new recipes or doing ballet class. I enjoy the feeling of being lost!
How do you deal with stress?
I try to live as much of my life in the moment. Otherwise I meditate, have regular acupuncture or dance. Laughing a lot also works wonders!
Is reading something you do regularly?
I love reading so I always find time. Maybe it’s not always for long. Reading is virtually free education, which lasts the rest of your life!
How do you relax?
I have to keep going back to dance. As a former dancer it means everything to me. I can lose and find myself at the same time. I feel free when I move! In saying that, I love the cinema and go almost every weekend.
What does a night in and pampering yourself mean to you?
Pampering myself comes naturally to me. I make all my beauty regimes rituals. If I’m really in the mood I will take longer to massage my skin in front of the TV or use my own Facial Glow Rejuvenating Mask two to three times a week.
Favourite beauty products for relaxation?
My own Queen of Night Candle.
What does a relaxing weekend look like for you?
Going to the cinema with my family and just pottering around. Socialising with friends for a catch-up and a gossip.
